Sonic Boom

Before take off, sounds waves are concentric. After take off, they are bigger on the back and become, with the speed, more and more compressed in front of the plane. When the plane passes the speed of sound (1,224 km/h), the compression of air molecules is so strong that it creates a shockwave that is perceived as a ‘boom’.
